Revolutionizing celebrity information search results to be a visually rich and dynamic experience
What I did
I designed a dynamic and scalable experience for celebrity searches
-
I re-designed the templates for celebrity results to showcase dynamic content such as news, photos, video, and social. The solution I proposed was a scaled to show dynamic content that varied with different people in the limelight.
-
And every mile was tested in front of really people to validate the UI and concepts behind the architecture. 5-6 participants would respond to stills or interactive prototypes.
-
I worked closely with the team to make the designs into a reality. I made red-lines, notes on the mocks that explain functionality and behaviors and well as states for various conditions. Daily stand ups help unblock issues quickly. The best work involves everyone from the start and makes ideas more fleshed out and achievable.
I designed a dynamic and scalable experience for celebrity searches
As a UX designer, my goal is to create a seamless and intuitive user experience that allows users to easily search for their favorite celebrities and access relevant information.
The information displayed should be comprehensive and easy to read. This can include a brief bio, photos, upcoming events or projects, and links to social media profiles or related content. Not all celebrities are the same, so I proposed we use a dynamic system based on content types so the search results appeared fresh for the most popular names searched.
It's also important to consider the user's search behavior and provide relevant suggestions or filters to help narrow down their search results. For example, users may want to filter results by a specific category such as related people, movies they appear in, and recent news.
Scalable content
Not all celebrities are the same, so I proposed we use a dynamic system based on content types. An entity that has little information available has only their basic info. The page expands as we know more about the entity. A currently active celebrity can have a ton of content including canonical photos, recent photos, news, upcoming events, social media posts, related content. The aim was to make search results appear fresh for popular entities searched.
Clutter free

Helpful heirarchy
Search results can be a very different thing with each keystroke you make. This is why I worked hard to make a network of pages around an entity. In this case, News, Tweets, and Timeline are all findable from the bio page or searched for them organically. Celebrities timelines gave users a new way to discover content about their interests.
Content rich
I built the new designs based on years of best practices that I had learned in Search, plus some things to make it more consumable. I added visual cues to assist in scanning the page, I highlighted content like Tweets were now visible, and created ways to discover without typing at all.
